Chaz Jankel is a musician, composer, and producer. Best known for his work with Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Jankel played a pivotal role as the band’s keyboardist and guitarist. His songwriting collaborations with Ian Dury resulted in several major hits, including “Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick,” which topped the UK Singles Chart, “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” and “Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3.”
Jankel’s music career extends beyond the Blockheads, showcasing his talents as a solo artist with nine studio albums. His solo work is characterized by a unique blend of funk, disco, and new wave influences. Notable solo tracks include “Ai No Corrida,” which was later famously covered by Quincy Jones, and the dance hit “Glad to Know You.”
