On this weeks 100th episode we are joined by Gavin Friday. Gavin, born and bred in Dublin is a singer, songwriter, composer, actor and painter, and all round Irish legend, best known as a founding member The Virgin Prunes who were one of Ireland’s most ambitious post-punk groups. Gavin left The Prunes in 1986 going on to record several solo albums and soundtracks. Gavin collaborated with Bono to write three tracks for the Jim Sheridan movie, In the Name of the Father, two of which were Bono-Friday vocal duets with Sinead O’Connor singing the third. He contributed the song “Angel” to one of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time – Romeo and Juliet as well as a full score for the films The Boxer, Angel Baby, In America and Get Rich or Die Tryin. Gavin still puts the same energy into his work that he did when he started the virgin prunes in 1977, whether recording his own albums or composing music. His work is always inspiring and thought provoking and we were delighted to get to chat to him.
Let Christy Take It are proud to bring you Gavin Friday.
